Arshad Ali Syed

Executive Partner
Arshad Ali Syed brings with himself more than three decades of working experience in development sector, with focus on tobacco control, harm reduction, human rights, women and labor rights. A known face in the development sector, he has worked with leading NGOs in Pakistan. For the last three years, he has been one of the leading voices on the tobacco harm reduction. He regularly contributes articles and blogs on tobacco control and harm reduction.

Daud ur Rahim

Lead Researcher
An experienced democratic governance expert and researcher, brings with himself a strong background and working experience in media, communication, development sector, and research. A prolific writer, he has authored reports on poverty alleviation, governance, local government, elections, parliamentary strengthening, financial inclusion, and tobacco control etc. In 2018, he co-authored a report, funded by FES, on the ten years of parliament (National Assembly and Senate). He is a master's in English Literature.

Dr. Abdul Hameed Leghari

Senior Research Analyst
Dr. Abdul Hameed Leghari has a PhD in Economics and is currently employed as a Senior Research Analyst at ARI. He has more than a decade's experience in quantitative and qualitative research in several policy areas, including income growth, poverty reduction, education, demographic issues, social exclusion, barriers to smoking cessation, assessment of tobacco harm reduction, assessment of alternative nicotine delivery systems and food and nutrition security.

Syed Jafar Mehdi

Assistant Manager Finance and Administration
A former journalist, Syed Jafar Mehdi has been working with Pakistan's developing sector for the last three decades. With a deep understanding of tobacco control in Pakistan, he has made a niche for himself in finance, administration and event management. Since 2018, he has been active member of the ARI team working on tobacco harm reduction.

Junaid Ali Khan

Advocacy Officer
With six years of journalistic experience, Junaid Ali Khan has worked in leading media outlets as correspondent, stringer and freelance contributor. A prolific writer and translator, he has monitored and evaluated Pakistan's mainstream and regional print and electronic media, giving him deep insight into how it works. Working with ARI, he has been actively promoting tobacco harm reduction as a solution to Pakistan's smoking epidemic. He is a master's in Commerce from Abdul Wali Khan University, Mardan.

Sarnawaz Salamat

Admin Officer
An active member of the ARI team, Sarnawaz Salamat is part of the outreach efforts on tobacco control and harm reduction, besides looking after administration and coordination. He has worked with one of the leading tobacco control networks in Pakistan for a decade. He is a graduate from the University of Sarghoda.

Dr. Saadia Kamal

Media Consultant
Dr. Saadia Kamal has 16 years of working experience in print and electronic media.

Naba Zaidi

Volunteer
As a young and energetic member of the team, Naba Zaidi has been contributing articles on the issues of health for various social media platforms. With background in research, she is assisting in preparing relevant material on tobacco control, harm reduction, smoking cessation, besides visualizing its placement on social media. She has worked with as assistant research officer with Epiphany, a local NGO.
